Events—Fundraising

Augusta Chronicle

In recent years, the Services Auction has become a Raffle, where members buy tickets for the option to win the items of their choice.  The proceeds of the Raffle went to a special scholarship fund to help members attend conferences at The Mountain, our UU Camp and Conference Center.

Although Joe Patchen was the special guest performer, Joe Mulligan’s gourmet spaghetti dinner was also a hit with the crowd.  The dinner featured Joe’s homemade pesto, alfredo, and meat sauces.

Gayla Keesee and Hoyt Goodson were the auctioneers.  In between the bidding, we had other special performances by various members. One of the strangest was by Ivie Nolin who proved that she could play the recorder with her nose.  Some performances were so bad, we took up money to have them stop.

Over the years, Joe has offered his talents and those of his friends on several occasions as special fundraising events.

Joe even had a performance at the church to benefit the victims of Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

Joe and the choir teamed together to produce their first CD in 2003 as a fundraiser.  CD’s are available at the church for $10.00. For more information on our Music Program, click here.
